  • Tampa Bay Design Week: This weekend marks the kick-off of this year’s Tampa Design Week! This Saturday, The Fibonacci Fete will be coming to the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, celebrating architect Harry Wolf and the Fibonacci Sequence that served as an inspiration for his works. Tickets include cocktails, hors d' oeuvres, and live music. Then, Sunday, you can tour historic homes throughout Seminole Heights with tours every half hour from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm.

  • Welcome to Night Vale: Watch a live production of the critically acclaimed Welcome to Night Vale podcast this Friday at the Tampa Theatre. This macabre, comedic show takes a subversive spin on a local radio show offering reports on mysterious magical events, dark hooded figures, and supernatural weather reports. This stand-alone story takes place in the Night Vale universe, with the show starting at 8:00 pm.

  • Gem, Mineral, and Jewelry Show: Explore the world of rocks, gems, and fossils this Sunday as the Tampa Bay Mineral and Science Club hosts its annual show at the Florida State Fair. From 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, learn from geologists, shop at rock and gem vendors, collect jewelry-making supplies, and watch demonstrations on anything and everything rock-related. Pasco County

  • Native Plant Sale: Develop your green thumb at the Florida Native Plant Society’s native plant sale from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Heritage Park Community Center this Saturday! In addition to selling tons of Florida native plants, the event will also feature a plant profile for each type of plant sold, carts for plant transportation, books and information on gardening and local horticulture, and Plant Society Club Members to answer any plant-related questions.

  • Night Ranger: Celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Chasco Fiesta with 80s arena-rock sensation Night Ranger along the scenic banks of the Pithlachascotee River. The multi-platinum winning band is known for hits such as Sister Christian and (You Can Still) Rock in America. General admission starts at $20.

  • Nova Era Live Performance: The Pioneer Museum in Dade City will be hosting a performance like no other, as the powdered wig wielding, petticoat wearing band Nova Era will be playing their classical period-inspired music. The performance will be this Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Proceeds go to benefit the nonprofit organization that keeps the museum operating.

Pinellas County

Hear stories from Henry Winkler about life as an actor, inspiring life lessons, and funny jokes. The night starts at 8:00 pm Saturday night at the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre.

  • Antiquarian Book Fair: Bibliophiles rejoice as the 39th annual Florida Antiquarian Book Fair brings a book lover’s paradise this weekend at The Coliseum in St Pete. Specialized book, map, postcard, and autograph sellers will come together to sell,l demonstrate, and inform you about the printed works from years of old. This theme for this year’s book fair is Children’s Hour: Celebrating Books for Young Readers and The People Who Love Them.

  • SPCA Pet Walk: Get some fresh air for a good cause this Saturday at this walk in North Straub Park that benefits the SPCA, the only non-profit, open-admission, for-all pet shelter in Pinellas County. Registration for the SPCA Pet Walk is free, but those who raise $25 in donations will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

 

Sarasota/Manatee County

  •  Arts and Crafts Festival: The arts come alive at the Downtown Sarasota Arts and Crafts Festival this Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Skilled artisans will be offering their jewelry, pottery, and paintings as well as flowers, produce, and handmade goods. Admission to this event is free!

 

Polk County

  • Tour the Polk Museum of Art: Explore the rich culture of the Florida Highwaymen this Saturday at a docent-led tour of the Polk Museum of Art. The tour, which begins at 11:00 am, is included with the price of admission will highlight the famous Floridian landscapes of African American painters during the 1950s.
