Theme Parks Setting Dates to Reopen in Florida

The most magical place on Earth is set to reopen their doors. Disney Theme Parks were forced to shut down amid the pandemic as officials waited for the green lights to reopen from the state. While closed, the parks used it’s free time to implement new operations to ensure the safety of all visitors.

If given the okay to reopen doors, Disney and Magic Kingdom will open on July 11th. Epcot and Hollywood Studios will follow shortly after, reopening on July 15th.

Universal on the other hand intends to open a little earlier on June 5th, along with Islands Of Adventure and Volcano Bay. Sea World is then set to follow right behind Universal, opening on June 11th.

Disney has furloughed 100,000 employees companywide according to a report in the Orlando Sentinel. Including most of its largest Disney World Resort union coalition of $43,000 people.

New precautions at the park will include sanitation stations, mask protocols for employees and plexiglass installation.

Here’s a quick rundown of what Disney has planned:

  • Employees and guests will be required to wear masks and undergo temperature screenings before entering the parks.

  • Disney will reduce capacity at the parks and the resort will temporarily suspend parades, fireworks and other events that create crowds

  • The resort will expand contactless payments

  • Disney will also increase the number of available hand-sanitizing stations
